What Is a Cub Scout Class B Uniform?

“Class B” is the everyday name Scouts and parents use for the activity uniform: a Scouting t-shirt, usually your pack’s own custom shirt, worn with Scout shorts or pants and socks. The official uniform shirt with patches is often called the “Class A.”

Packs wear Class B shirts when the full uniform isn’t practical: hikes, campouts, service projects, Pinewood Derby, day camp, and hot summer events. They’re easy to wash and much less costly to replace than an official uniform shirt.

You may notice something familiar in the name. Over the years, many Scouts have started calling a Scout t-shirt a “ClassB shirt.” Thank you! We’re Scouters too, and we believe in the program.

Why Packs Love Custom Cub Scout T-Shirts

Everyone Belongs

Most parents never buy an official uniform unless they’re pack leaders. A pack t-shirt lets Cubs, parents, siblings, and leaders all wear the same colors at events, and makes a brand-new Lion or Tiger feel part of the pack on day one.

Built for Fun

Mud, s’mores, and the Pinewood Derby pit crew are hard on a uniform. T-shirts are easy to wash and inexpensive to replace, so Cubs can go all in.

Recruiting

Cubs wear their pack shirts to school, church, and sports, where a uniform might not fit in. Every shirt starts a conversation about your pack. Pair them with pack banners and car stickers for recruiting night.

Pack-Friendly Pricing You Can Take to Your Committee

The Price You See Is the Price You Pay

Your price is based on the garment, how many you order, and where you print. It’s never based on how many colors are in your design. Design help, setup, and standard shipping are already included.

  • Order more, pay less per shirt. Even small packs get great pricing, and the price drops as your order grows.
  • Mix garment styles. Keep the same design and your t-shirts, hoodies, long sleeves, and women’s styles all count toward the price break.
  • No extra charge for larger sizes. Youth and adult sizes cost the same.
  • Optional add-ons like a back print, left-chest print, sleeve print, Cub names, or Glow in the Dark and Glitter effects are priced separately, so you only pay for what you choose.

Popular Shirts for Cub Scout Packs

Offer a mix so everyone gets what they want. Keep the same design and every style counts toward your quantity price, even if a family only wants one hoodie.

Most packs choose this one. A soft Gildan cotton tee with the biggest color selection. It’s the shirt shown on our design ideas.

A lightweight Sport-Tek tee that wicks away sweat, with a roomy athletic cut. Popular for summer camp, day camp, and hot-weather events.

A cotton/polyester blend from Gildan. A good everyday option, with a few fewer color choices than the B110.

Keeps Cubs warm at fall campouts and winter meetings. Made by Gildan, so the colors match your t-shirts.

Many parents like long sleeves for sun protection and fewer bug bites on hikes and campouts.

Choosing Shirt Colors for Your Pack

Shirt colors are hard to judge on a phone or monitor. Here’s what we’ve learned from years of pack orders.

The Classic Cub Scout Colors

Navy blue shirt color swatch

Navy Blue

Closest to a new Cub Scout uniform. It looks almost black on most screens and turns a little bluer after a few washes, just like the uniform.

Royal blue shirt color swatch

Royal Blue

The blue in the Cub Scout logo and the American flag. A bright, classic pack color.

Athletic gold shirt color swatch

Gold

An athletic gold, a bit deeper than the yellows used in Cub Scouting. In general, gold looks the best.

Daisy yellow shirt color swatch

Daisy or Lemon Yellow

Matches the yellow in the Cub Scout logo. It’s very bright as a shirt color, but many packs love it.

Two More Good Choices, and Two to Double-Check

Iris blue shirt color swatch

Iris Blue Good choice

A lighter royal blue. A nice change if your pack wants something different.

Carolina blue shirt color swatch

Carolina Blue Good choice

A great light blue that isn’t baby blue.

Sapphire shirt color swatch

Sapphire Double-check

Often ordered by mistake as royal blue. Sapphire is a deeper, turquoise-like blue with a tropical feel.

Indigo blue shirt color swatch

Indigo Blue Double-check

A grayish, washed-out navy. It’s often mistaken for navy because navy looks black on screens.

Design tip: very dark design colors like navy, dark brown, or forest green can look black on darker shirts. Our artists check contrast on your proof. More help: our guide to blue shirt colors and why colors look different on screens.

Getting Sizes Right

Ask families which t-shirt sizes they need

Ask Your Families

Guessing sizes is a minefield, so ask. Skip Youth Small, because Cubs grow fast. A typical pack mix for Cubs is about 40% Youth Medium, 40% Youth Large, and 20% Adult Small.

T-shirt size sample kit

Try a Size Sample Kit

For our most popular B110 tee, order a size sample kit so families can try shirts on. It comes with a coupon toward your pack’s order.

Different shirt styles fit differently

Styles Fit Differently

Not every medium is the same. Styles are cut differently, even from the same brand, so check each garment’s size chart before you finalize.

Order a few extra shirts

Order a Few Extras

About 20% extra solves most size swaps, and you’ll have a shirt ready to welcome each new Cub.

Cub Scout T-Shirt FAQ

Do more colors in our design cost more?

No. Unlimited colors, same price. A one-color design and a full-color design with gradients and photos cost exactly the same to print.

How many shirts does our pack need to order?

Small packs are welcome. The per-shirt price drops as your order grows, and you’ll see the exact price before you order. Need a few more later? Reorders of just one or two shirts are easy.

Can we add our pack number and town?

Yes. Every design can be customized with your pack number, town, year, or event name. Our artists will check it before you approve your proof.

Can our shirts use official Cub Scout logos?

Yes. ClassB is an official Scouting America licensee, so your pack’s shirts can include official Cub Scout marks, which unlicensed printers aren’t permitted to use.

Do adult and larger sizes cost more?

No. There’s no extra charge for larger sizes. Youth and adult sizes cost the same, so Cubs, parents, and leaders all pay one price.

Can we order hoodies or long sleeves with the same design?

Yes. Mix garment styles with the same design, and your whole order counts toward the quantity price break.

What shirt colors do most packs choose?

Navy and royal blue are the classic Cub Scout choices, with gold and yellow close behind. Watch out for sapphire and indigo, which are easy to mistake for royal and navy on a screen. See Choosing Shirt Colors above.

What sizes should we order for Cub Scouts?

Ask your families first. If you have to estimate, a typical pack mix for Cubs is about 40% Youth Medium, 40% Youth Large, and 20% Adult Small. Skip Youth Small, and order about 20% extra. Our size tool can suggest a breakdown for your pack.

Which shirt do most packs order?

The B110 100% cotton tee. Most packs choose it for its comfort and huge color selection. See Popular Shirts for Cub Scout Packs for other options, like performance tees and hoodies.

How long does it take to get our shirts?

We guarantee an in-hand date when you order. See Turnaround above for current dates. Orders with complex artwork or very large quantities can take a few extra days, and we’ll tell you up front.

Is design help really free?

Yes. Free design help is included with every order: customizing a design idea, adding your pack details, and guidance on a basic design. Fully original, complex artwork may need extra design time, and we’ll always quote it first. Most pack orders never get close to that.

Are there coupons for pack t-shirt orders?

Yes. Sign up for Scouting coupons and we’ll email you coupons and offers you can use on your pack’s order.
