First-time custom t-shirt buyer guide: 10 easy steps

1. Design 2. Garment 3. Price 4. Decide 5. Sizes 6. Collect 7. Deadline 8. Order 9. Check In 10. Hand Out

1

Pick a Design

It sounds easy, but it is the hardest part, especially when a group has to agree. Pick 3 to 5 designs and share them with your group. Start with our design ideas, and send people the link to each one you like.

You can change any design in our t-shirt designer so your group sees its own name and colors. Have your own idea instead? Free design help is included, and you can even see your art before you order.

2

Pick a Garment

Once you have a design, choose what it goes on. Check the sizes before you fall in love with a color, because not every color comes in every size, especially youth sizes and the largest adult sizes. Our most popular shirt is the Gildan 100% cotton t-shirt.

Not everyone wants the same thing? You can mix printed styles, like t-shirts, hoodies, and tanks, in one order. See all garment styles

3

Get the Price

Your group will want to know the cost before they commit. Estimate how many shirts you will sell, on the low side, and look up the price for that quantity on the garment page. The price per shirt drops as the order grows.

There is nothing to add up: full-color printing, setup, and standard shipping are included, and larger sizes do not cost extra. Then round up a dollar or two to set your group’s price. The extra covers a few spare shirts.

4

Decide to Buy

You and your committee are happy with the design and the price. You are happy with how easy it has been so far. Now it is time to get to work.

5

Get the Sizes

If you can get everyone together, a size sample kit lets people try shirts on. If not, ask each person for their size and point them to the size chart on the garment page, since sizes vary from brand to brand. When in doubt, go one size larger.

6

Collect Up Front

The perfect time to collect payment is while you are collecting sizes. People who have paid do not change their minds.

7

Set a Deadline

There are two good ways to do this. Set one firm date and take no orders after it, or use two prices: order by the first date and the shirt is $10, order by the second date and it is $15. Either way, name the day you will place the order and stick to it.

8

Order the Shirts

Add up all your orders, add an extra shirt or two in the common adult sizes, and place the order. You will approve a proof before anything is printed.

Did someone miss the deadline? Do not worry. We keep your artwork on file, and reorders have no minimum, so you can order just one more later.

9

Check In the Shirts

When the box arrives, count the shirts against your list. To make hand-out day extra easy, bag and label each person’s order.

10

Hand Out the Shirts

Get ready for lots of compliments and praise for a job well done.
